Re: President Aquino in London: Jubilee and misery

Copy of email to The Manila Times in response to this

Hi Marlen,

I was very dissapointed with your caricature of the state of affairs in the UK.  FYI Cameron has not started any austerity measures of any great size.  It is all smoke and mirrors,  unfortuneately the previous incumbent at number ten spent all our money, there is none left for any Keynesian stimulus.   However, the present UK government is spending more money (that it doesn't have) than the previous Brown/Blair debarkle.
If pres Aquino would like more tourists from the UK he should petition D. Cameron to remove ADT (airport departure tax) which add greatly to the cost of any air travel to the PH.  While he is at it he should reduce his own airport taxes which have already caused airlines to reduce long haul flights to Manila, if my information is correct.
If  D. Cameron has caused a recession it is by his green taxes especially on electricity and petrol (gasolene).  Cameron's tax increases and an ever increasing volume of red tape is stiffling and extinguishing our businesses.  His green taxes are pushing families and pensioners into fuel poverty.  Cameron talks the talk, but won't walk the walk.
Sorry for the rant.

Kind Regards,
Me

Take on UK energy policy.

Shrink to fit?

Myself I think economic and technological growth the best way forward.  No need to shrink our economies, total madness.
